From September 1st 2014, children with significant difficulties that affect their ability to learn, make friends and develop independence will be assessed under the new and improved system of Education, Health and Social Care plans. This means that from the outset, parents and professionals will collaborate to decide on what additional needs a child has beyond their typically developing peers, and how they can be helped and by whom. It is sincerely hoped this will make it easier and quicker to match children and their parents with the necessary resources.
